bthe object for which a prayer, mass, or pious act is offered
4a process or manner of healing of incised wounds
5CONCEPTespecially a concept considered as the product of attention directed to an object of knowledge--------------------------------------------------From time to time, I will say "lets set our intention for our session together" Or I will take a moment while my client is settling onto the table to set my intention. But what does that mean? What am I actually doing?
My process is internal.  I silence my personal life and thoughts, I tell myself to focus on this amazing human being that has chosen me. I open myself to learn through what I will feel with my hands. I tell myself to actively and completely FEEL the gratitude that overwhelms me, after all, they are giving me their time and hard earned money but also, vulnerabilities, open hearts and sometimes even emotions and pain. I process information that they have given me, what are their physical pains they have shared? What do they do for a living/ what is expected of them a majority of the time? How are they physically moving their BODY? What ailments have they been put captive in diagnosis? What is on their MIND? Do they seem overall happy? What do I sense of their SPIRIT? Have they shared any recent stressors or emotional experiences? Essentially, I try to walk in their shoes and see through their eyes.
I have carried this practice over to my everyday life. Many of us set intention without realizing it, "get well soon" sets the intention of a loved one to feel better in a timely manner. Our intentions may even set us up for negative behaviors if we are not careful to be mindful and aware of our inner voices. Have you ever woke up and stubbed your toe and for some reason your day just seemingly could not get any better? You stub your toe, you hit your head, you get toothpaste in your eye, you get stuck in traffic, you spill your coffee...etc. Have you ever tried to take a step back and tell yourself "these upsetting things have happened to me and i am letting them go, they do not dictate the rest of my day. I am going to turn this day around and make it awesome!" Take a moment to pause and breathe and set an intention. I know it sounds a little cheesy, but it can truly do wonders! Intention has changed my life. I believe human minds have extraordinary power that literally create the life we live.
Be present Today, let go of what no longer serves you, and most of all, let the love flow.
