Girl, wash some feet!

Today I was provided with an awesome opportunity to serve breast cancer survivors with foot reflexology. They were on a support retreat on the beautiful Sandbridge Beach. Every single one of them walked in saying “I’m sorry! My feet are sandy and dirty!”  To begin each session, I washed their feet with a refreshing wintergreen essential oil and began reflexology using castor oil. I did this over and over again, the almost one hundred women split up amongst just a couple of other reflexologist so it was a busy busy day! Great feedback, loving energy and fulfilling frequencies fueled my joy to continue serving them all with a humble, open heart. I was reminded of important truths. My vision renewed. Today was exactly what I needed. I was overflowing with joy.  -hold up.-  “So, not only did you massage feet, you washed dirty feet, and you are overjoyed?!” I know, from a calculated outsiders perspective it seems as if it could be daunting, humiliating and degrading...

Seeing New People, Meeting New Places

Image
Seeing new people gives me the eyes that are more understanding. Meeting new places gives me experiences that are mind stimulating.  As a bodyworker I can't help but watch people. I watch the way they walk, the way they sit and stand, the way they breathe. I believe habits, attitudes, and environment all impact our health just as much as our diets and exercise. Just in the past few months of this winter I was in the desert of Arizona, home in cold wintery Virginia Beach, and currently in the tropics of Key West, truly seeing new people and taking mental notes have really helped me develop the way I orchestrate my holistic approach on each of my clients.  Understanding the human local to Arizona that awaits the warm spring air in order to ground himself in his secret hidden swimming hole, finding common ground with fellow military wives in my neighborhood who close themselves off and hermit away from the blistering cold winds, and connecting with the Key West locals and vi...

Do You Have One Of My Top 10 Favorite Disorders?!

Of course Id love for my clients to be in perfect health and happiness, but seemingly very few of us are always at 100% everyday. What makes me love these disorders? The first hand experiences and the gratification my clients tell me of their relief. This feedback gives me a strong sense of purpose, how many more people are out there that I could help improve their quality of life?  *cape blows in the wind and I shout "HAVE NO FEAR, ASHLEY THE LMT IS HERE!" * 1. Plantar Fasciitis  2. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome  3. Depression/ Anxiety/ Mental Imbalances 4. Headaches/Migraines  5. Arthritis/carpal tunnel  6. TMJ  7. Frozen Shoulder  8. Mysterious/obscure back pain  9. Surgery Recovery 10. Sciatica     In no particular order (and definitely not limited to). Everyone is different therefore improvement time varies as well as frequency of appointments needed. Thank you and goodnight! ☮

in·ten·tion   |   \ in-ˈten(t)-shən     \ Definition of  intention  1 :  a determination to act in a certain way  :  RESOLVE 2 :  IMPORT ,  SIGNIFICANCE 3 a :  what one  intends  to do or bring about b :  the object for which a prayer, mass, or pious act is offered 4 :  a process or manner of healing of incised wounds 5 :  CONCEPT especially   :  a concept considered as the product of attention directed to an object of knowledge -------------------------------------------------- From time to time, I will say "lets set our intention for our session together" Or I will take a moment while my client is settling onto the table to set my intention. But what does that mean? What am I actually doing?  My process is internal.   I silence my personal life and thoughts, I tell myself to focus on this amazing human being that has chosen me. I open mysel...

Carving Out My Very Own Tiny Piece

of this Mysterious Bodywork World. Massage is an entirely vague word in a million aspects- the term, the verb, the career, the results, the experiences, the perceptions, the power, the emotions, the luxury, the science, the healing... I could go on and on. Most Massage Therapists, don't even agree on techniques, or even what they should be called...Masseuse, Massage Therapist, Bodyworker? As I continue to navigate through this very vague world, I need to find MY way. The best way for me to process information is to write and loved ones have told me hundreds of times to share my thoughts with the world, so Blogging it is! Cheers to those who follow my journey, with no real destination but really just goals and pit stops of decisions made and paths created by me!
